Translation verification steps

Terminology
Appropriate terminology is used. Terminology is used in accordance with Client’s instructions/glossary.
Consistency of terminology
Terms are translated consistently throughout the whole text. Consistency of terminology is checked using Xbench and all the necessary amendments are introduced.
Instructions
 All Client and PM instructions are followed.
Reference materials
Reference materials have been consulted (eg. source file layout checked in case of ambiguous segmentation in SDLX/Trados).
Tags and codes
Tags and codes from the source file are preserved. No illogical/unnecessary tags (eg. for special characters that do not exist in the target language) are copied.
Numbers
 All the numbers/numerals in the target text match the source file. Units of measurements are appropriately converted/used according to country standards and Client’s instructions.
Fuzzy matches
Segments containing fuzzy matches have been checked and all the necessary amendments are introduced.
Style
 The text reads well, it is coherent, cohesive and translated with the target reader in mind.
Spelling
 Proper names and abbreviations are spelled correctly. All the documents are checked for spelling mistakes. All the documents are visually checked for other spelling issues.
Grammar
 Grammatical and syntactic structure of the text is correct.
Punctuation
 The text contains no punctuation related issues (all punctuation marks are used according to language specific standards.)
Spaces
The text contains no double spaces. The spaces between symbols (%, °, §) and units of measurement are used correctly and consistently. Spaces before/after tags are placed with consideration of tags functions
Layout
 The source file layout is preserved.
Formatting
 Source font size and type is preserved.
QA
 The (bilingual) files have been QA-checked.(Trados QA Checker, Xbench).
